Nyamata Primary Court has postponed the bail hearing of Hassan Bahame, the coordinator of Gitagata Rehabilitation Centre, who was arrested over allegations of sexual exploitation involving juveniles under his supervision. The hearing was adjourned to January 8 due to the absence of prosecutors, who were attending training. ALSO READ: Juvenile rehab official arrested over sexual exploitation The prosecution formally took over the case on December 22, following Bahame’s arrest by Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) on December 16. In a statement posted on X, RIB said Bahame is accused of abusing authority entrusted to him by law for personal gain, including allegedly soliciting or committing acts of sexual exploitation against some individuals undergoing rehabilitation at the centre. Bahame has served as the coordinator of Gitagata Rehabilitation Centre since 2021.
