President Paul Kagame has congratulated his Guinean counterpart Mamady Doumbouya, who got a landslide victory in the December 28 election. Guinea's Supreme Court on Sunday, January 4, confirmed Doumbouya, 41, as the winner of the first presidential elections held in West African country since 2021, when the army took over. He won with 86.72 per cent of the votes. During the three-day visit he met Kagame as well as the Guinean community in Rwanda. Doumbouya had served as interim president since the deposition of Alpha Conde, who had led Guinea for 11 years.
