A road accident involving three vehicles in Rugalika Sector, Kamonyi District, on Monday morning claimed the life of one person and left nine others injured. The crash occurred in the area known as Mu Nkoto when a minibus reportedly suffered brake failure, colliding with a Toyota Land Cruiser V8, which in turn hit a Howo dump truck. All vehicles except the truck ended up off the road. ALSO READ: Kamonyi: Two killed, 11 injured in multi-vehicle collision The injured were rushed to various health facilities, including Remera-Rukoma, Nyarugenge, CHUK, and Kacyiru hospitals, while the deceased was taken to Remera-Rukoma Hospital, CIP Hassan Kamanzi, spokesperson of Rwanda National Police in Southern Province, told The New Times. “We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased,” he said, adding that investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing. The two vehicles involved, aside from the truck, were also damaged in the crash. Authorities have reminded all road users, particularly drivers, to exercise caution and protect one another on the roads.
