Police FC head coach Ben Moussa has heaped praise on striker Elijah Ani following his man-of-the-match performance in Saturday’s Rwanda Premier League victory over Gorilla FC. The Nigerian forward scored a hat-trick—his first of the season—as Police FC cruised to a convincing 4-0 win at Kigali Pelé Stadium, extending their lead at the top of the table. Police were dominant throughout the encounter, putting Gorilla FC to the sword to move three points clear at the summit with 32 points after 15 rounds of the campaign. “I’m happy with Ani because he scored three goals and provided the ball that led to another goal,” Moussa said after the match. “I am not surprised by his performance; he is a complete striker. We signed him fully aware of what he is capable of.” Moussa also highlighted the striker’s improvement following missed chances in a recent match against Bugesera FC. “When we played Bugesera, Ani had two clear chances when he was one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but he didn’t score. Now you can see how much he has improved,” he added. The former Bugesera FC attacker has now scored four goals in Police FC’s last three matches, and his coach is confident there is more to come. “I hope there is a lot more from him. He was wonderful today, but the whole team performed excellently. I couldn’t be happier,” Moussa said. The win keeps Police FC top of the table on 32 points after 15 matches and marks a return to winning ways following their first defeat of the season against Bugesera FC last week.
