Rayon Sports defender Youssou Diagne is expected to miss a couple of months after breaking his arm, the club confirmed on Tuesday. The Senegalese centre-back suffered a displaced radius fracture after falling on his right arm during a training session on Tuesday. He was rushed to hospital and is expected to undergo surgery within the next 48 hours. “Diagne needs to consult an orthopedic surgeon as soon as possible for further assessment and to plan the surgery,” Rayon Sports spokesperson Olivier Gakwaya told Times Sport. “It is still too early to determine exactly how long he will be out. We are closely monitoring the situation together with our medical staff,” he added. The injury comes as a major setback for Rayon Sports, who may consider strengthening their squad during the January transfer window, with Diagne potentially sidelined for between one and three months. “We feel very sorry for him and wish him a quick and full recovery. He will receive the best possible treatment, and we hope he comes back stronger,” Gakwaya said. Diagne joins a growing injury list at the club that includes Aziz Bassane, Fall Ngagne, Gloire Tambwe and Abedi Bigirimana. However, Tambwe and Bigirimana are nearing full recovery and resumed training on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
