Rayon Sports are set to unveil Frenchman Bruno Ferry as the club’s new head coach before the end of the week. Times Sport understands that Ferry has agreed to take charge of the Blues on a short-term deal and could lead his first training session on Wednesday. Marcel Lomami is also returning to the club and will join Ferry’s technical team as assistant coach. The new coaching staff will begin work at a club that has been without a head coach since Tunisian tactician Lotfi Afahmia was dismissed in November, following a poor run of results in both the domestic league and the CAF Confederation Cup. Who is Bruno Ferry? Born in Châtel-sur-Moselle, in northeastern France, Bruno Ferry is a French football manager and former professional goalkeeper. Now 58, he brings vast coaching experience, particularly within African football, where he has held several managerial and technical roles since the early 2000s. Ferry was most recently head coach of AS Miquelonnaise, a club competing in Ligue SPM in France, a role he has held since 2020. He guided the side to the league title that same year. A UEFA Pro Licence holder, Ferry is widely recognised for his tactical expertise and modern coaching philosophy, qualities that have earned him a strong reputation across the African continent. Earlier in his career, he coached in France’s lower leagues before expanding his footprint abroad. Known for a modern, attacking approach, Ferry frequently deploys systems such as the 4-2-3-1, emphasising structure, ball circulation, and tactical discipline. His understanding of African football is extensive, having previously worked in Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Over the years, he has held various roles with clubs including Accra Lions (Ghana) as a scout, Eding Sport (Cameroon), AS Dakar Sacré-Cœur (Senegal), Azam FC (Tanzania), and AS Vita Club (DR Congo), where he served both as assistant coach and head coach. Although often described as a journeyman coach, Ferry is known for making a significant impact during short stints, which has kept his name in circulation for major coaching opportunities across the continent. Rayon Sports will now hope his experience and tactical acumen can steady the club and reignite their campaign.
