Worshippers were treated to an unforgettable night of praise and worship on Sunday, December 14, as gospel music star Alexis Dusabe celebrated 25 years of ministry at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village. The concert marked a major milestone for the singer, who had not headlined a major show in several years before making a strong return to the spotlight earlier this year. The celebration reflected on a journey that began in 2000, highlighting a quarter-century of service and impact in gospel music. Gospel music lovers filled the venue in anticipation of what unfolded into a powerful evening of worship, music, and reflection. The event brought together a remarkable lineup of gospel icons, including Israel Mbonyi, Prosper Nkomezi, Papi Clever and Dorcas, Aline Gahongayire, Massamba Intore, Tonzi, and many others who gathered to honour their fellow artiste. The evening opened with performances by Vedaste N. Christian and Bosco Nshuti, who thrilled the audience with hit songs such as Uzi Gukunda and Ni Muri Yesu. Bosco Nshuti, known for his powerful vocals, later returned to deliver stirring renditions of fan favourites including Yanyuzeho, Ibyo Ntunze, and Nzamuzura, drawing the crowd into heartfelt worship. Burundi’s renowned worship leader Pastor Lopez Ninahazwe then took the stage, energising the congregation with deeply moving performances of Birampagije and Imana y’Akandi Karyo. Following the guest appearances, Alexis Dusabe made his entrance, taking the audience on a nostalgic musical journey through his career—from his early works in 2000 to his latest releases. Songs such as Gakondo Yange, Ngwino, Ibyiringiro, and Nzajya Nyiringira resonated strongly with worshipers who have followed his ministry for more than two decades. The atmosphere grew more reflective when Pastor Jean-Baptiste Kayitare delivered a powerful sermon centred on God’s love and sovereignty. Drawing from the Song of Solomon, he emphasised how divine love transcends all circumstances and how God reigns supreme in every aspect of life. After the sermon, Alexis returned to the stage with renewed energy, performing several of his newer songs that reflect the growth and evolution of his ministry. The highlight of the night came when he performed “Umuyoboro,” the concert’s title track, bringing the celebration to a meaningful and emotional close. “This concert was more than just music—it was a spiritual journey,” Eva Rugambwa, one of the attendees, told The New Times. “Alexis reminded us why we fell in love with gospel music in the first place. The message of God’s unwavering love through Pastor Kayitare’s sermon and the powerful worship through song touched my heart deeply.” Alexis Dusabe is one of Rwanda’s most celebrated gospel artists. Since launching his ministry in 2000, he has become a household name, known for his soulful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and unwavering commitment to spreading the Christian faith through music. Over the past 25 years, his songs have ministered to countless believers across Rwanda and the wider East African region, cementing his legacy as a pillar of the country’s gospel music scene.
