Students in boarding schools will begin travelling back to their families for the holidays between December 19 and 22, according to the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA). GAHUNDA Y'INGENDO Z'ABANYESHURI BIGA BACUMBIKIRWA pic.twitter.com/UeReEB4EGJ — NESA Rwanda (@NESA_Rwanda) December 10, 2025 On December 20, students from Ruhango, Gisagara, Nyabihu, Rubavu, Burera, Rwamagana and Kayonza will travel, followed by those from Nyarugenge, Gasabo, Kicukiro, Nyanza, Kamonyi, Karongi, Rutsiro, Rulindo, Gakenke, Ngoma and Kirehe on December 21. ALSO READ: PHOTOS: Back-to-school: Students share expectations for new school year On the final day, Monday, December 22, students from schools located in Muhanga, Nyaruguru, Rusizi, Nyamasheke, Bugesera and Gicumbi districts will travel home. NESA urged schools to strictly follow the approved travel schedule and release students on time. It also reminded students to return home wearing their school uniforms. ALSO READ: Education minister shares tips on learning outcomes as students report back to school Parents were advised to prepare the necessary transport fare for their children, while local authorities were called upon to support schools in ensuring safe student transport throughout the period. According to NESA, students travelling through Kigali will be transported to their respective provinces, with all departures taking place from Kigali Pele Stadium in Nyamirambo. The authority added that all buses will leave before 3pm, and no student will be allowed to board after that time.
