Strictly Soul, arguably Africa’s biggest R&B event, is making a comeback to Kigali, this time lighting up the city with performances from both international and local deejays. The event, slated for Friday, October 10, at its usual Kigali home Atelier du Vin, promises international flair with DJ Akio, the globally acclaimed founder of Strictly Soul, who will be joined by two of Kigali’s finest DJs — Senshi and Infinity — to infuse the event with a local rhythm. Since its inception in 2020, Strictly Soul has evolved into a continent-wide movement, now active in over 12 cities across nine countries. It has become a gathering point for R&B lovers, blending timeless classics with new-age sounds while celebrating the genre’s influence on African and global culture. From hosting breakout African R&B artists like Filah Lah Lah in Johannesburg to drawing crowds of over 1,300 at Cape Town’s Old Biscuit Mill, Strictly Soul’s growth has been organic yet intentional — rooted in authenticity, community, and a deep love for the music.
