Kenya’s Naom Wafula delivered one of the highlights of the SportsBiz Africa Golf Championship on Thursday, September 4, when she struck a hole-in-one during the second round at Kigali Golf Resort & Villas. Meanwhile, Rwanda’s Celestin Nsanzuwera tightened his grip on the leader-board with another commanding performance. Wafula’s ace came on the par-3 second hole, sparking a composed round of 4-under-par 68 that lifted her tournament tally to 1-over-par 145. The effort secured her place among the top 30 golfers advancing to Friday’s decisive round. ALSO READ: Golf: Nsanzuwera eyes home glory at Sunshine Development Tour Recalling the moment, Wafula said she didn’t initially realise the ball had dropped. “Since the green is uphill, we couldn’t see where it landed,” she recounted. “When we got there, one of the caddies said a ball had dropped in, and when we checked, it was mine. It was a hole-in-one! I was super happy, but my caddie calmed me down and reminded me that I still had a lot of golf to play.” At the top, home favourite Nsanzuwera thrilled fans with a near-flawless display. He fired nine birdies and an eagle to card an impressive 9-under-par 63, taking his two-day total to 13-under-par 131. That left him seven shots clear of his closest challengers. Wangai, the best-placed Kenyan after two rounds, carded 3-under despite three bogeys, while Procter and Porteous also signed for 69s to stay in contention. Other Kenyans making the cut include Eric Ooko, Jastas Madoya, Dismas Indiza, Mutahi Kibugu, Samuel Njoroge, Michael Karanga, John Lejirma, David Wakhu, Ken Abuto, Greg Snow, Daniel Nduva, Mohit Mediratta, Jacob Okello, and Njoroge Kibugu.
