Rwandan has untapped business opportunities and is an investor friendly country, a minister told delegates at the just concluded Commonwealth Business Forum in Kampala.This was during an interactive session organised for Rwanda, under the theme:”Unlocking the potential in Rwanda.” Vicent Karega, the industry and investment promotion minister said Rwanda offers investment opportunities in just about every field. “We wish to see investors shift to Rwanda because we have the best investment climate with zero tolerance to corruption,” the minister said.He added that the government of Rwanda is aware, achieving Vision 2020 requires a substantial contribution by foreign investors who need to be welcomed and assisted on the ground.He told participants that starting business is much easier and faster in Rwanda. The session was chaired by Emmanuel Hategeka, secretary general, Private Sector Federation.Participants heard that Rwanda has registered remarkable recovery over the past dozen years.They were also told that the economy has grown 10 times since 1994 and that the country is now an investment destination worth considering. Francis Gatare, the Director General of Rwanda Investment and Export Promotion Agency said the country produces high grade Arabica Coffee as well as fine tea which is among the top five in the world.Door Plantenga, Chief executive officer Bralirwa), Gerald Mpysi (M.D, BCS) and Tele 10, Chairman Eugene Nyagahene were among the delegation from Rwanda.Discussions focused on co-operation between business and government, concentrating on efforts to help remove trade barriers, mobilising investment into Commonwealth countries and fostering a good business environment.Ends
