Mozambique’s President, Daniel Francisco Chapo, on Wednesday, August 27, paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gisozi, describing Rwanda’s history as a testament to the unbreakable resilience of its people. President Chapo is on a two-day official visit to Rwanda, which runs until August 28, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations. Your history is a solemn reminder that humanity must never forget what intolerance can cause. However, it is also a beacon of hope, a testament to the unbreakable resilience of the Rwandan people. May the peace that Rwanda bids today be your most powerful answer, and may it serve as a lesson for all of Africa and the world. Your lives were not in Vain.” Kigali Genocide Memorial is the resting place for over 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi.
