Star opposite attacker Venuste Gatsinzi has completed a sensational return to Gisagara VC ahead of the 2025/26 season, which kicks off on October 17. The Rwanda international, who penned a three-year contract with the club, is looking forward to a comeback to action after a season-long spell on the sidelines since suffering a knee injury during the 2024 CAVB Continental Cup in Morocco, where he and Olivier Ntagengwa were representing Rwanda. His injury forced Rwanda to withdraw from the beach volleyball tourney, costing the team a chance to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in France. The same injury also kept him out of action for the entire 2024/25 season as APR VC, the club he had featured since 2018 right after completing secondary school, had to do without him. The trio is part of the squad preparing for new season under new head coach Yakan Laurence Guma. Reports indicated that Gatsinzi has not recovered well enough to play but Gisagara VC Secretary General Edmond Gatera told Times Sport that the player is fit and doing well. The team officially began preseason training on August 8.
