Kenyan President William Ruto on Friday, August 15, appointed a consul general in Goma, largest city in eastern DR Congo controlled by the AFC-M23 rebels since January this year. The nomination of Judy Kiaria Nkumiri as Consul General in Goma is among the new appointments and redeployments made by Ruto on Friday, according to State House spokesperson Hussein Muhamed. Other appointments include high commissioners and ambassadors, who were deployed to Burundi, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Turkey, Thailand, among others. Besides Goma, the AFC-M23 rebels currently control Bukavu, the second largest city in eastern DR Congo, which was captured in February.
