Rwandan authorities received François Gasana, a Rwandan national wanted for his alleged involvement in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, following his extradition from Norway on Friday, August 8. Gasana, who was born in 1972 in Ngororero District, had been living in Norway under the false identity of Franky Dusabe, according to the National Public Prosecution Authority. He was received and subsequently arrested at Kigali International Airport on Friday morning. He was arrested in October 2022 in Oslo after a thorough investigation by the Norwegian Criminal Investigation Service (Kripos). In September 2023, the Oslo District Court ruled in favor of his extradition to Rwanda. Gasana appealed the decision, but in April 2024, the appellate court upheld the ruling. His final appeal to Norway’s Supreme Court was rejected in June 2024.
