Rwandan Taekwondo star Emmanuel Nzaramba won two medals including gold in the Taekwondo competitions which concluded in Muju, South Korea on Wednesday, July 30. Nzaramba struck gold in the -68kg category at the Muju Taekwondo Expo, and a bronze medal in the -58kg category at the G1 Universiade competition. He is one of two Rwanda Taekwondo athletes who impressed at the competitions. His teammate, Yvan Mucyo Iradukunda, won two bronze medals—one in the -54kg category at the G1 Universiade, and another in the -58kg division at the Muju Expo. The pair, coached by Jeong Ji-Man, showcased outstanding performances at the international stage, helping Rwanda finish second in the overall rankings, just behind France while Singapore and Indonesia share third place. Rwanda made history by finishing second in the men’s -130kg senior category in the G4 Octagon Diamond Games—marking the country’s best-ever performance in this weight class at a global Taekwondo event.
