UK-based Rwandan music producer Madebeats, one of the country’s most respected beatmakers and sound engineers, could be on his way back to Kigali with deal to rejoin 1:55AM record label almost done, The New Times has learned. Speculations surrounding Madebeat’s return emerged after 1:55AM CEO Kenny Mugarura shared a cryptic post on Instagram, hinting the producer’s return, which quickly caught the attention of Rwandan music enthusiasts. Madebeats, one of the original co-founders of 1:55AM, left the label in 2022 to further his music career in London but, in a brief interview with The New Times, Mugarura confirmed that discussions are” indeed underway” with the producer over a possible return to the label. “Yes, talks are ongoing,” Mugarura said. “We’re still discussing, but I can’t confirm exactly when everything will be finalized.” He also revealed that, in addition to the potential return of Madebeats, producer Loader has officially joined the 1:55AM team which is also home to producers Kompressor and Element Eleeeh. Recent reports have suggested that Element may be leaving 1:55AM, potentially paving the way for Madebetas to rejoin the label, but Mugarura firmly denied those claims. He is credited with producing multiple hit songs that have received widespread airplay on local radio, TV, and in nightclubs. Among his most notable works is the hit Katerina, which has surpassed 10 million views on YouTube, as well as other fan favorites like Ubushyuhe.
