Thousands of partygoers in Rubavu town were left frustrated and disappointed after several scheduled concerts were either cut short or canceled. Three major events in the lakeside tourism and business town—Ivy Summer Fest, Toxic Xperience, and Kivu Beach Festival and Expo—did not end as planned, leaving revelers in fury and confusion. Ivy Summer Fest halted The show was due to go on till late midnight at Nengo Eden Park Hotel, but organisers were told by police to close it as early as 10:00PM. Not any of the artistes on the lineup was able to perform. “For us, we thought we were going to close at midnight. Unfortunately, Police halted it citing noise pollution,” a visibly unhappy Baudelet Jonathan told The New Times. “Our neighbors [other bars near the venue at Lake Kivu] are playing music, when we are forced to shut down, it’s surprising! Police was contacted to comment on the matter. ALSO READ: Rubavu welcomes thousands for liberation holidays Bruce Melodie cancels Toxic Xperience performance at last minute Bruce Melodie was expected to perform at Toxic Xperience at Heza Beach Resort but declined to appear on the stage due to what he termed as “sound system issues.” He apologised to his fans who traveled all the way to Rubavu to watch him perform live at the Toxic Xperience. “To my Giseny Family, I was fully ready to perform at Toxic Xperience but, due to unexpected sound issues beyond my control, I could not get on stage,” stated Melodie. “I know many of you came out for me, and I truly apologize. We’re already in talks to find a way to fix this and give you the performance you deserved,” the singer stated in an Instagram post. Meanwhile, rapper Fireman, who was scheduled to perform at the Kivu Beach Festival, also failed to show up during the last two days. He explained following poor mismanagement and misunderstanding between the organizers. The New Times contacted Toxic Xperience organisers for a comment but efforts to reach them were futile.
