The 20 Kilometres de Bugesera, the annual athletics event, returns for its seventh edition on Sunday, June 29. Athletes will begin and finish the race at Bugesera Stadium. This festival, primarily known for its 20-kilometer run for adults over 20, has become a cornerstone event in the Bugesera District. It will once again unite professional athletes, amateur sports enthusiasts, and the local community for a day of competition and celebration. The event will not only feature the 20km race but also a 40-kilometer cycling race, an 8-kilometer race for younger participants, a 4-kilometer race for people with disabilities, and a 5-kilometer run for fun race which is open to all. He explained that this edition will not only provide a platform for athletes to show their potential but also serve as an occasion to celebrate the district’s achievements. The routes to be used in this race feature new infrastructure , making it a special one that also celebrates how far Bugesera has come since the liberation of the country, he stated. Organizers anticipate an “even larger turnout” this year, with the inclusion of athletes from Rwandan national athletics teams in the premier 20-kilometer race.
