According to Junior Giti, who manages the artist’s affairs, she had been receiving treatment at Nyarugenge Hospital for several days. She had been ill, but even last night she told us she was feeling better and expected to be discharged in the morning, Giti said. We were shocked when we received the news of her passing. Reflecting on his birth during a heartfelt exchange, she told him, “You were born so hungry that the doctor placed you in intensive care. But you were so strong, you refused to go in. Even as a baby, you had a fight in you.” She described him as a “warrior in life,” a reminder of the struggle and resilience that marked the day he was born.
