Rwandan music executive and entrepreneur Gael Karomba, better known as Coach Gael, is on a business trip in South Africa, where he is meeting with industry leaders to explore ways of expanding Rwanda’s musical footprint in the region. On June 10, the 1:55 AM Music founder met with Collin Gayle, the force behind Africa Creative Agency (ACA), a company known for connecting African talent with international audiences. The two discussed potential collaborations that could strengthen ties between South African and Rwandan creatives. ALSO READ: What's Afro Nation boss Smade up to in Kigali? Gayle’s agency has represented stars such as Tayla and Nasty C, and was involved in the production of the Netflix original Queen Sono, featuring South African actress Pearl Thusi. Sources familiar with the trip told The New Times that Coach Gael is also expected to meet with organizers behind Chris Brown’s recent concerts in South Africa. The aim, they say, is to learn more about what it would take to bring the American superstar to perform in Kigali. “He is trying to find out more about the logistics of bringing Chris Brown to Rwanda,” a source close to the matter said. The speculation began in May when Gael posted a bold statement to his Instagram: “I’m bringing Chris Brown here, mark my words.” The post quickly fueled conversation among fans, with reactions ranging from excitement to skepticism. Bringing an international act of that scale would be no small feat. According to industry estimates, Chris Brown’s performance fees range from $300,000 to $1 million. In December 2024, he sold out two nights at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium, drawing crowds of more than 90,000 each night. If it happens, a concert in Kigali would mark Chris Brown’s second performance in East Africa, following his 2016 appearance at the Mombasa Rocks Festival in Kenya.
