AS Muhanga president Pamphire Bakundukize has confirmed that the club will appoint a new head coach by the end of this week, following the departure of Gaspard Munyeshyaka. Munyeshyaka, who guided AS Muhanga back to Rwanda Premier League (RPL) after four years in the second division, recently left the club to join Sunrise FC, where he signed a one-year deal. We wanted to continue with him, but it wasn't possible,” Bakundukize told Times Sport. “We have many coaches who have shown interest in coaching AS Muhanga, and by the end of this week, we will have appointed one of them,” he added. Once a new coach is appointed, the club will move into the transfer market to recruit players that will be used in the RPL. The club is also negotiating with its main sponsor, Muhanga District, to increase support beyond the Rwf 80 million which used to be given to the club in the second division. AS Muhanga was promoted to the new league season after a 2-1 win over La Jeunesse in last month’s playoff final at Muhanga Stadium, topping the mini-league with 10 points.
