AS Kigali Football Club is facing a big challenge as 15 of its 27 players no longer have contracts with the team ahead of the 2025/2026 Rwanda Premier League season. The club, which is supported by the City of Kigali, finished third last season behind APR and Rayon Sports. Meanwhile, on a worrying note, AS Kigali is not allowed to sign new players due to a FIFA ban that resulted from failure to pay their former player Raphael Osaluwe. The club is understood to be planning to pay Osaluwe soon so that the ban can be lifted and they can prepare for the new season.
