Rwanda National Police (RNP) has announced temporary road closures and designated routes to be used by athletes competing in the 20th edition of the Kigali International Peace Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, June 8. The marathon which will start and conclude at Amahoro Stadium and BK Arena, will attract participants from across Africa and beyond. Rwanda will be represented by 11 national athletes across three race categories: Full Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.097 km), and the Run for Peace (10 km). ALSO READ: Rwandan athletes hungry for more medals at Kigali Marathon Routes for half and full marathons: Athletes will depart from Amahoro Stadium, pass through Gishushu, and head towards the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) building. From there, the route continues to ‘Kabuga ka Nyarutarama’, loops back through Meridien Hotel, Kigali Heights, and ‘Ku Kabindi’ to the Primature roundabout, and returns to ‘Ku Kabindi’. The route then extends to the University of Kigali roundabout, Kigali Convention Centre, back through Gishushu, and proceeds through Gisementi, Rwahama, Simba (Kimironko), and Contrôle Technique, concluding at Amahoro Stadium. Routes for 10km peace run: The Run for Peace will start at Amahoro Stadium (CSS gate), continue to Prince House, head toward the Sonatube roundabout, return to Prince House, and proceed through Kwa Rwahama, Simba, and Contrôle Technique, before finishing back at Amahoro Stadium. According to the RNP, the affected roads will be closed from 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, and will reopen at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 8.
