Rwandan peacekeepers, serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) conducted a Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiative to support local school children at Socatel M’Poko in Bangui, on June 5. Lt Col Alphonse Kigenza, the Commander of the Rwandan contingent (RWABATT-1), emphasized that the initiative aims to promote education and foster stronger ties between the peacekeepers and the local population. He said: “We want the children of this country to have a bright future through quality education. As peacekeepers, it is our duty to support local community.” Kigenza highlighted education’s critical role as a foundation for peace and development. This activity underscores the Rwandan peacekeepers’ dedication to not only maintaining peace and security in the Central African Republic but also advancing humanitarian and development goals through CIMIC initiatives.
