APR defender Clement Niyigena has said that winning the player of the season award for 2024/25 is a reward of what he achieved with the club throughout the season. Niyigena overcame stiff competition from teammate Jean Bosco Ruboneka as well as Bugesera FC striker Umar Abba to win the prestigious accolade in the Rwanda Premier League awards gala held at Kigali Convention Center on Friday. Niyigena mentioned that he is glad with the award which he said was just the beginning of what he is eager to achieve going forward. It is a sign that shows me that I have to keep working hard, that more is possible, Niyigena said. The Amavubi defender made 28 league appearances for APR scoring twice as they won the Rwanda Premier League title for the sixth consecutive time. He is part of Amavubi squad preparing for the international friendly with Algeria on Monday, June 2 in Blida.
