Singer and songwriter Marina has revealed she is taking a break from getting into relationships after enduring four years of toxic experience dating her now ex-boyfriend. Despite this being her first serious relationship, she describes the experience as “bitter and traumatizing.” The artiste, born Marine Uwase Ingabire, opened up about her struggles in an interview with Inyarwanda, admitting that, while she knew her boyfriend wasn't treating her well, she couldn't understand why she never left. “I knew he wasn’t that nice and over the 4 years I used to say that I am done with him, over and over again but still, I couldn’t leave him. It wasn’t a happy relationship and I knew it but couldn’t stop. Now thinking about all these wasted years that I spent in such toxicity, it makes me crazy but now I am single,” said Marina. When asked if she's searching for a new boyfriend, Marina replied that she doesn't need anybody at the moment. However, she did reveal her ideal partner would be someone wise, kind and with human character. The singer has only been rumored about dating fellow singer Yvan Muziki after the two were seen together several times over the years and, while people linked the ex-boyfriend she was talking about in the interview to be Yvan Muziki, Marina was quick to dismiss the reports, stating that they were ‘just close friends.’ Bad Rama, founder of The Mane Records and a close friend to Marina, took to social media to express his deep sentiments about the interview, particularly regarding the singer's four-year toxic relationship. Beyond her latest track ‘Ndokose’, Marina has several songs under her belt, including singles like ‘Shawe’, ‘Log Out’, ‘Oo! Nanana’, ‘True Love’ ft. Safi Madiba, ‘Like That’, ‘Tubisubiremo’, ‘Decision’, and many more. Marina stepped into the spotlight in 2017 under the guidance of singer and radio presenter Uncle Austin, and later joined The Mane Music record label in 2018 on a six-year contract.
