Nineteen teams from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and host nation Rwanda have confirmed their participation in the 2025 Handball International Genocide Memorial Tournament which will be staged at Petit Stade in Kigali from May 28-29. ALSO READ: Police HC dominate APR HC in Game 2, edge closer to the title The annual tournament is organised annually by local handball governing body (Ferwahand) in partnership with the national Olympic Committee (RNOSC) on the occasion of honouring victims of the 1994 genocide against Tutsi through sports. More than 20 members of the handball fraternity were killed during the Genocide. It gathers top African clubs from across East African region, providing invaluable exposure and a chance to compete at a top level. The men’s tournament will bring together APR, Police, UB Sports, UR Huye, UR Rukara, ES Kigoma and Nyakabanda from Rwanda, Uganda’s Makelele University and UPDF, Equity Bank from Kenya and Ngome of Tanzania. The women’s category includes Three Stars, Gorilla, UR Huye, UR Rukara and ISF Nyamasheke from Rwanda, Makelele and UPDF from Uganda as well as JKT from Tanzania.
