Amb Martin Ngoga, the new Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the United Nations, presented his credentials to the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, on Thursday, May 22. Ngoga, Rwanda’s former High Commissioner to Kenya, replaces Ernest Rwamucyo as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the UN. The former Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) – 2017-2022 – has served in different other capacities including being a member of the regional parliament from 2015 to 2017 and Rwanda’s Prosecutor General from 2006 to 2013 National Public Prosecution Authority of the Republic of Rwanda. From 1999 to 2003, he served at the now defunct International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) in Arusha, Tanzania, as Special Representative of the Government of Rwanda. Before then, from 1997 to 1999, he served in the then Butare Province as Deputy Head of Public Prosecutions. In 1997, he served in the Ministry of Labour and Public Services as Head of the Legal Department.
