Rwandan RnB star The Ben thrilled hundreds of his music lovers in Uganda with a high-end, sold-out concert held at Kampala Serena Hotel in Uganda on May 17. The performance was part of his ongoing “Plenty Love Tour” and featured a mix of music and humor, ensuring a memorable experience for revelers. Clad in stylish green attire featuring a tiger print, his self-given symbol, The Ben made an energetic entrance on stage, minutes after rapper Green P, his brother, and Kampala-based Intore traditional dancers. Originally expected to host around 1,500 VIP and classic concertgoers, the turnout surpassed expectations, with fans packing the venue beyond the usual capacity. Rema joined her Rwandan counterpart on and performed the song together, setting the tone for an unforgettable night of soulful music. The Ben then performed fan favorites like “Plenty”, “Fine Girl”, “Lose Control”, and “Why”, a collaboration with Tanzanian super star Diamond Platnumz, before welcoming Rwandan artistes Kevin Kade and Element Eleeeh for a joint performance of “Sikosa.” The trio electrified the atmosphere, with Kevin Kade, dressed in red, and Element in full blue, hyping the crowd before stepping aside for individual sets. Element Eleeeh kept the energy high with his solo hit “Kashe”, before Kevin Kade returned to keep the hype up when he performed his hit song “Munda.” His high-energy performance, backed by dancers, had the entire audience on their feet, elevating the concert to another level. Symphony Band was always ready to deliver whenever The Ben asked for it from the moment he returned to the stage in all-black outfit. He “Habibi,” one of his all-time songs, to “Ni Forever” and “Ntacyadutanya,” The Ben enjoyed a night filled with joy and emotions among his supporters. And, performing “Naremeye,” The Ben revealed that the song was written by Rwanda culture musician Massamba Intore who was also present at the concert. He thanked Masamba for showing up at the show while also acknowledging his influence on his musical journey. The Ben had a long list of songs that would have loved to performed, on top of those on his album ‘Plenty Love’ but he could only manage a few more like “Binkolera” featuring Sheebah, “Thank You” with Tom Close, “I'm in Love,” “True Love.” He could sing at least a verse or a chorus for each of the songs. The unforgettable show wrapped up around 2 a.m. Kampala time, but the celebration didn’t end there. The after-party continued at Mezo Noir Club, just a few kilometers from the main venue. Ahead of the concert, The Ben expressed his deep love for Ugandan music, naming artists like Ray G, Joshua Baraka, and Laika among his favorites. Born and raised in Uganda, he also shared admiration for legendary musicians Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool, and Bobi Wine, a sentiment he reiterated during the show. Ray G was among homegrown artistes who performed at the show, alongside Karole Kasita. Though The Ben thrilled fans with his classic hits that had the crowd singing along, the concert stayed true to the theme of his new album “Plenty Love”, with rare songs from the album performed, some for the first time at a fully packed, high-end event where even table guests couldn’t stay seated. Released on January 31, 2025, Plenty Love is a collection of songs around love and everyday life. The Ben has already taken the tour to countries like Belgium and Canada, with upcoming shows planned in the United States and Australia. Recognized as one of East Africa’s best, The Ben is known for hit songs like “Why” featuring Diamond Platnumz, “Habibi”, “Vazi”, “Ni Forever”, “Fine Girl”, and more. His concerts consistently draw large crowds, reinforcing his role in championing African music on the global stage.
