Celebrated US-based Rwandan gospel singer Richard Nick Ngendahayo will be back to his roots, after 15 years, for his solo homecoming concert. Dubbed ‘Niwe Healing Concert,’ the concert will take place on August 23 at BK Arena. Based in Dallas, Texas, where he serves as a Praise and Worship leader in his local church, Ngendahayo has long been known for his spiritually rich gospel music, which once dominated local gospel airwaves with tracks such as Wemere Ngushime”, Ntwari Batinya”, Mbwira Ibyushaka” ‘Niwe’ and more. Natasha Haguma, the leader of Fill the Gap Limited, the event company organizing the concert, told The New Times that it was God‘s timing because they approached the singer by the exact time was also thinking of staging a homecoming concert after several failed attempts. “He was approached by different people but it was not the right time for God. But he is now ready after finally being called to headline the concert,” she said. As one of the most talented and cherished gospel musicians in Rwanda, Haguma noted that there is no doubt many Rwandans are looking forward to see him back on stage. She said that her organizing team was determined to bring a singer whom Rwandans have missed and Ngendahayo was the perfect choice. Recently, Ngendahayo released a comeback song titled ‘Uri byose nkeneye’ after a six-year- hiatus.Ngendahayo’s last release was from the album Niwe”, a project that earned him a loyal fanbase in Rwanda and beyond. With two albums under his belt, ‘Yambaye Icyubahiro’ and ‘Niwe,’ the new song introduces listeners to his third album, which he describes as a journey of healing, faith, and revival.” The whole album will be out before his concert.
