Music and basketball fans in Kigali are in for a treat as the Basketball Africa League (BAL) returns to BK Arena where four clubs will be battling for two spots up for grabs in the Nile Conference from May 17-25. The Nile Conference, taking place in Kigali for the first time, will go beyond basketball, a star-studded lineup of performers has been confirmed to entertain basketball enthusiasts at the half time show. ALSO READ: Which basketball events will be hosted in Rwanda this year? Among the headline performers is Ghanaian music sensation Gregory Bortey Newman, popularly known as King Promise. Renowned for his hit tracks like Terminator, King Promise will be joined by some of Rwanda’s top musical talents, including Ariel Wayz, Kivumbi King, and rising rapper Kid from Kigali. Rwandan representatives APR Basketball Club are among four teams set to battle for tickets remaining for the playoffs which will take place in Pretoria, South Africa in June. Other include Al Ahly Tripoli from Libya, Kenyan debutants Nairobi City Thunder and Made By Ball Basketball of South Africa. Since its launch in 2019, through a partnership between the NBA and FIBA, the Basketball Africa League has grown into a premier platform for showcasing basketball talent across the continent. Beyond the action on the court, the inclusion of high-profile musical performances continues to make BAL a unique celebration of African sports and culture.
