Winger Aziz Bassane scored what could be the fastest goal of the season after just 34 seconds from kickoff before Burundian midfielder Abdul Rahman Rukundo doubled the lead from the spot in the second half as Rayon Sports edged Rutsiro FC 2-0 at Kigali Pele Stadium on Thursday. The win powered the Blues back to the top of the table with 56 points, one clear of rivals APR who had beaten Marines FC 3-0 on Wednesday. Rutsiro were yet to settle in the game when Bassane opened the scoring fron Rayon’s first attack. A superb through ball from Richard Ndayishimiye found Bassane who advanced to the Rutsiro danger zone before hitting a ferocious drive past goalkeeper Jean Paul Itangihatse to make it 1-0 in the first minute. Rayon, parading an attack of Abeddy Biramahire, Fiston Ishimwe and Bassane controlled the game as they piled pressure on the visitors who had Mousa Gatera back on touchline after few days in suspension. Rutsiro's attack, led by Jeremie Mumbele and Jeremie Makola, were left isolated most times upfront as the midfield duo failed to keep the ball to their feet. Rayon skipper Kevin Muhire dazzled in the heart of midfield with his precise passes and he coolly calmed the tempo of the game. The Blues, who finished the first half leading 1-0, looked more purposeful in the second half with their wingers making incessant runs into the Rutsiro penalty area.
