South African Amapiano sensation Tyler ICU, best known for his chart-topping hit “Mnike,” will return to Kigali as the headliner of the forthcoming Fuego Fest, stepping in for countryman Vigro Deep, who withdrew from the show. According to sources at Evolve Music Group, the organizers behind Fuego Fest, the change was made after Vigro Deep was booked for another major event scheduled on the same date. To keep the excitement alive for our audience, we chose another Amapiano star. We’re confident Tyler ICU will deliver an energetic performance that may even surpass expectations,” one of the organisers told The New Times. Local talent will also feature prominently at the festival, with popular Rwandan DJs June and Inno, two of the most sought-after names in Kigali’s vibrant dance scene, taking the stage. Born Austin Khulani Baloyi in Kempton Park, Gauteng, Tyler ICU rapidly rose to stardom. His hit single “Mnike” was certified platinum in South Africa and dominated both the official South African Charts and Billboard South Africa Songs, holding the number one spot for 16 consecutive weeks. Beyond “Mnike,” Tyler ICU is acclaimed for producing hits such as Cassper Nyovest’s “Good For That” and DJ Maphorisa’s “Banyana.” He initially rose to fame in 2020 with “Bella Ciao,” featuring Nicole Elocin, DJ Maphorisa, and Kabza De Small. Fuego Fest will take place on 30 May. General admission tickets are priced at Rwf 10,000, while VIP access will cost Rwf 15,000.
