Fashion designer and founder of Moshions, Moses Turahirwa, is set to appear before the Kicukiro Primary Court on Tuesday, May 6, to face drug abuse charges. The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Turahirwa has been in custody since at least April 22. ALSO READ: Fashion designer Moses Turahirwa arrested again over drug use “Indeed, Turahirwa was arrested and is being prosecuted for drug use, as shown by the test results from Rwanda Forensic Institute (RFI),” Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) spokesperson Thierry Murangira told The New Times on April 22. This was not the first time the fashion icon had faced legal troubles over drug use. On April 27, 2023, he was arrested on similar allegations, including drug abuse and forgery. The Nyarugenge Intermediate Court later granted him bail on July 15, 2023. On December 20, 2024, after trial in substance the court found him guilty of using forged documents and drug consumption. He was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of Rwf2 million, along with Rwf20,000 in court fees. Turahirwa appealed the verdict. The appeal hearing for the case has not yet taken place.
