President Mamadi Doumbouya of Guinea-Conakry is expected in Rwanda for a courtesy visit on Thursday, May 1, according to a statement from his office. From Rwanda, Doumbouya will attend the inauguration ceremony of Gabon's President-elect Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. ALSO READ: Guinea president Mamadi Doumbouya visits Rwanda President Doumbouya was last in Rwanda in January 2024, where he held a tête-à-tête with President Paul Kagame, followed by bilateral discussions between their respective delegation. He was on a three-day visit. During that visit, Doumbouya said that with Kagame they would “address the positioning of a sovereign, self-determined and influential Africa on the international scene.” The bilateral relations between the two countries are also established on an agreement on the creation of a joint cooperation committee covering areas of agriculture, ICT, education, mining, and security. It was signed during Kagame’s visit to Guinea in April 2023.
