Mukura Victory Sports could forfeit their Peace Cup semifinal first leg match against Rayon Sports after referees called it off after just 20 minutes due to power outage at Huye Stadium. The game which was supposed to start at 5:00 pmdelayed for 27 minutes as both coaches were seen arguing with the referees. Rayon Sports put the ball at the back of the Mukura net after just three minutes but Abeddy Biramahire was flagged in an offside position and it didn't count. Rayon had their second chance of the game a moment later when Junior Elenga's speculative shot was saved by goalkeeper Nicholas Sebwato. Full back Zuberi Hakizimana had the first chance for Mukura in the 14th minute mark as his shot hit the side of the net. The overlapping left back received a superb pass from Boateng Mensah in the 17th minute after the striker had beaten three Rayon Sports players but his connection missed the post by inches to the relief of the traveling fans. The power at the stadium went off in the 20th minute prompting players from both sides to return to the dressing room wait for the technicians to address the issue. The referees, however, later decided to call off the match after efforts to restore the power proved futile. According to Ferwafa rules regarding competitions, “if a match played at night is interrupted due to darkness following a power outage, the referee will only be able to definitively stop the game after having observed a waiting period of 45 minutes. After this period the visiting team will be declared the winner by a score of three to nil or more.
