The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board has announced that the number of participating teams in 3x3 basketball will increase to 12 men's and 12 women's teams at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. This increase from eight to twelve teams per gender reflects the rise of 3x3 basketball and reinforces its growing global appeal.
