US basketball prospect Nate Ament launches signature sneaker inspired by Rwanda

Rwandan-American basketball prodigy Nate Ament has launched a signature sneaker inspired by Rwandan colours. Born to a Rwandan mother and an American father, the 17-year-old is considered a top prospect for the 2026 NBA draft. Ament unveiled the signature sneaker during the McDonald’s All-American game on April 1, becoming his very first edition shoe produced by Reebok, six months after signing a multi-year endorsement deal with the famous American footwear and clothing brand. ALSO READ: Rwandan-American basketball prodigy lands Reebok deal Through the deal, he supports Reebok brand activations and brings awareness to the brand’s performance and lifestyle product offerings, including its newly announced performance basketball shoe, the “Engine A.” The sneaker, titled ‘Reebok Engine A Rwanda PE,’ is inspired by different colours including blue, yellow and green which the youngster used in honor of his Rwandan roots. It’s a special edition which pays tribute to the basketball prodigy’s heritage while showcasing Reebok’s latest performance technology. “For my country [followed by Rwandan flag and a heart],” he wrote on the sneaker caption on his Instagram post. A five-star high school phenomenon and 2024 elite MVP, Ament is currently the ranked number 4 prospect in the ESPN 100 recruiting index. He is projected to be a top 3 pick in the 2026 draft and is regarded as one of the best all-around hoopers in his class.
