Members of the Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC) will on May 10 elect a new executive committee which will take office for a four-year term until May 2028. This was approved by the annual general assembly held in Kigali on Sunday, March 30. Current Olympic Committee President Alice Umulinga has been in office serving the acting role since Theogene Uwayo resigned from the post in 2021. Umulinga is allowed to run for another term during the upcoming elections but she is yet to confirmed her intent of staying in office. Building own headquarters Meanwhile, the general assembly of the Olympic Committee reviewed and approved several reports and resolutions expected to reshape the sporting landscape. The construction of modern RNOSC headquarters which will house all member sports federations and an Olympic Training Centre stood out among key resolutions of the general assembly as a transformative step toward the country’s sports infrastructure. The majority of federations have for years been housed by the Ministry of Sports and the new development could see them shift to their own facility. Only the Rwanda FA, Rwanda Basketball Federation and Rwanda Cricket Association have their own offices. The facility, set to be developed in five phases, aims to not only provide a centralized operational base for national sports federations but also create an environment where athletes can thrive under world-class training conditions.
