It is a special Thursday for comedy enthusiasts in Kigali as comedians from Rwanda and Uganda meet at the same stage in celebration of Gen Z Comedy Show’s three-year anniversary. The festivities take place at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (former Camp Kigali), the home of the bi-monthly comedy show. Ugandan comedians, led by Comedy Store host Alex Muhangi, arrived in Kigali for the colorful event on Wednesday, March 26. ALSO READ: Gen Z comedy at 3: Alex Muhangi’s Comedy Store stars to headline festivities Muhangi, who previously perform at Gen Z Comedy Show in September 2024, took the same flight to the Rwandan capital with Kenneth Pablo Kimuli, MC Mariachi, Maluana & Reign as well as musician Karole Kasita who are all set to perform. MC Mariachi, Madrat and Chiko also jetted in late in the evening. They will perform alongside Rwanda’s very own Patrick Rusine and various emerging comedians who rose to stardom via the Gen Z Comedy concept including Ambassador Wabakonsomateri, Muhinde, Pirate and Umushumba among others. “ This is a special edition as Gen Z Comedy Show celebrates our third anniversary and a thrilling collaboration with Uganda's famous Comedy Store. This show will definitely be amazing and a great time to witness some of Uganda's talented comedians whom some of our audiences have been longing to see perform live,” said funnyman Merci Ndaruhutse, who hosts Gen Z Comedy Show. Merci said the comedy concept has a vision to expand beyond the East African region and host different African comedians, opening doors for Gen Z Show comedians to perform on international stages. The journey has now begun with this collaboration with Uganda's Comedy Store, focusing this partnership on the wider African region.
