Rwanda head coach Adel Amrouche was not impressed that his players gifted Nigeria two cheap goals which cost them during Friday’s 2-0 loss at Amahoro Stadium. Victor Osimhen scored two first half goals in the 10th and 45th minutes to inspire the Super Eagles back into the race for the ticket to the World Cup 2026 in the United States and Canada. Amrouche insists that the Super Eagles benefited from gifted goals and it spoiled his game plan. We gifted them two goals. Imagine conceding a goal in the 10th minute and I had to change my game plan, he told journalists in a post-match press conference. The Algerian coach was furious at his players who he believes could have done much better before thousands of supporters, including President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame, who were in attendance. My players lacked fighting spirit. I hate to lose. I am not a loser. What hurt me most is that the president of the nation [Paul Kagame] who was there. Look at the fans who came to support us. If some of the players don't improve, they will go because new players are coming, he said. Amrouche further indicated that they have to put the defeat behind and prepare for Lesotho. That is football, we have lost. We must quickly forget about it and get a win on Tuesday against Lesotho. Rwanda has now slipped to third place on Group C with 7 points, three points behind South Africa who are at the top with 10 points after beating Lesotho 2-0. They will welcome the Crocodiles of Lesotho to Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday, March 25.
