Friday, March 21 REG 79-77 Patriots APR 95-76 Tigers Senegalese point guard Jean-Jacques Boissy starred with a game high 32 points and made 7 rebounds and 6 assists to power REG to a 79-77 late victory over Patriots at BK Arena on Friday. Patriots, led by Elliot Cole Lamar, had refused to give up the thriller so easily but the 24-year-old did a bit of everything to inspire REG to the victory, leaving coach Sanny Niyomugabo and his players visibly shocked before their supports. From making stops on the defensive end, to shooting 8-for-22, Boissy left it all on the floor to earn the man-of-the match recognition and give his side a victory which helped them keep the second place in the league. REG started well, and dominated the first two quarters with 17-9 and 22-21 respectively, opening a nine-point lead at the break. Returning in the second half, Patriots reorganized well and owned the second half as they closely rallied for a comeback. The took third quarter 23-18 and last quarter 24-22 but it wasn’t enough to earn them a victory on the night. Beaside Boissy, team captain Olivier Shyaka and Pieter Prinsloo added 11 points each. In an earlier fixture the same venue at 6:30pm, APR edged Tigers 95-76 to stay on as the only team undefeated in the league with a 10-10 record. The Rwandan champions are top of the league with 20 points, flowed by REG who have 17 points with a game in hand.
