Wednesday, March 19 REG 91-87 Espoir APR 86-59 UGB Star point guard Adonis Filer scored 22 points as APR ran away with a dominant 86-59 win over United Generation Basketball (UGB) in the opening match of the second round of Rwanda Basketball League held at Petit Stade indoor gymnasium on Wednesday. Malian power forward Aliou Fadiala Diarra continued his form by contributing with 14 points to the military side’s victory while fellow power forward William Robeyns added 11 points to the score. James Maye Jr’s started the game well, winning the first two quarters 22-11 and 24-20 to go into half time break leading 46-31. Returning for the second half, APR continued to dominate third quarter 22-12 and last quarter 18-12 as they left UGB with no chance to pose any threat to their top form. In an earlier league fixture, Rwanda Energy Group (REG) survived what would have been of the most shocking comebacks of the season to beat Espoir 91-87. REG were 15 points ahead with 68-53 with one last quarter to play. But Espoir dominated them and cut the gap to just four points as the game ended 91-87. Meanwhile, REG and Patriots, still have one game apiece to close the first round. The two teams have a match between them on Friday, March 21, at BK Arena.
