Rwandan Afro-house music lovers are in for a treat as Kigali’s nightlife is about to experience a significant transformation with the launch of Atmosfera, a pioneering Afro-house monthly event curated by renowned Rwandan disc jockey, DJ Lamper. Scheduled to debut on March 29, at the vibrant Depot37 within Mundi Center, the event promises to boost Kigali’s entertainment scene and introduce the Rwandan audience to the dynamic world of Afro House music and Amapiano. ALSO READ: Kigali welcomes Poco Lee for the first-ever ‘Obi House Party’ “I’ve always believed in the power of music to bring people together, and Atmosfera is all about celebrating the global sounds that are shaping modern dance floors,” DJ Lamper told The New Times, adding. “Afro House, along with Amapiano, has taken over the world, and now it’s time for Kigali to feel that energy firsthand.” Another thing, Lamper said, the event will be more than just a night of music but a cultural experience, where music, art, and fashion converge to showcase Rwanda’s creative potential on the global stage. The first edition will feature all-Rwandan lineup led by the headline DJ [Lamper], alongside DJ Niny, a rising star in Rwanda’s music scene known for her soulful playlists. K’Ru, a prominent figure in Kigali’s underground music scene, will also be taking the stage, along with a special guest performance from Starving Yet Full, a Rwandan artist whose hit song Ngwinomade became the first Afro House track ever released in Kinyarwanda. His track ‘Ngwino’ has not only gone viral but also showcased Rwanda’s unique sound to the world.” Beyond the music, Atmosfera will also highlight Rwanda’s vibrant visual arts and fashion scene. Brave Tangz, an acclaimed contemporary artist featured in “African Art – The Arak Collection” by Ashraf Jamal, will showcase his work during the event, bringing an added layer of cultural richness to the experience. “Art, music, and fashion go hand in hand in expressing culture. We want Atmosfera to be a space where all forms of creativity are celebrated, and Brave Tangz’s involvement underscores the deep connection between visual arts and music in Rwanda We’re setting the bar high and this is just the beginning. DJ Lamper is a well-established Italian-Rwandan DJ with international experience. Based in Kigali, he is the leading force behind the Afro House movement in Rwanda. He is also best known for shooting his set live at various known touristic areas across the country.
