Semifinal playoffs: Game 1 Friday, March 14 Men: Police vs REG (8PM) Women: Police vs Kepler (2PM) Saturday, March 15 Men: APR vs Kepler (6PM) Women: APR vs RRA (4PM) Police VC will go up against domestic rivals Rwanda Energy Group (REG) when the semifinal playoffs of the national volleyball league kick off Friday, March 14 at Petit Stade indoor gymnasium. Police finished the regular season leading the pack with 35 points. They were pit against REG who finished in the fourth place despite beating Kepler in a five-set thriller in their final regular season game that took place on Tuesday. The electricians were hoping to beat Kepler with a two-set difference to finish in third place and avoid Police in the playoffs, but their 3-2 victory wasn’t enough as they finished in fourth place. The pair go head to head into the playoffs with Police having an upper hand on the tie, having beating REG twice in their last three meetings. Fred Musoni’s side kicked off their league season with a convincing win over REG in three straight sets 25-19, 25-14, 25-11. The law enforcers also triumphed over REG in the second phase match in three sets 25-23, 25-16, 26-24. However, the most recent match between the two sides ended in REG’s favor, beating Police in the semifinals of the Heroes Cup 2025 in three sets 27-25, 26-24, 25-23. APR vs Kepler, a rematch of last year’s finals? Volleyball enthusiasts will be treated to yet another thrilling battle between APR and Kepler who face off in another semifinal playoff. APR lifted the 2023/24 volleyball championship after beating Kepler in the finals series. They are now meeting in the semifinals, with one spot to the finals up for grabs. While APR finished the regular season in second place with 31 points, Kepler finished in third place with 26 points. ALSO READ: Rwandan clubs pre-register for women’s African club champs Kepler will be without star opposite hitter Yves Mutabazi who missed the majority of the second phase of the league due to ‘personal reasons.’ APR's outside hitter Venutse Gatsinzi is also sidelined from the playoffs with a knee injury. Women's category Kepler WVC are enjoying their maiden season in Rwanda topflight volleyball and are among four teams which will play the playoffs in the women’s category, alongside Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), APR and Police. The top tier newcomers finished the women’s league regular season in the fourth with 22 points and were pit against top seed Police WVC. Police dominated regular season, collecting 36 points from 14 matches played. They only lost once so far this season against RRA who will now face APR in another semifinal matchup. The playoffs will follow a double-elimination format during which teams play a three-game series.
