APR Basketball Club shooting guard Jean-Victor Mukama is set to spend at least a month on the sidelines after suffering an ACL contusion (overstretching) during his team’s 64-61 league victory over Rwanda Energy Group (REG) on Friday, March 7. The 30-year-old’s injury adds to the growing list of injuries which have plagued the club recently with the likes of Osborne Shema, Israel Otobo, Aliou Diarra and Chris Ruta all sidelined. ALSO READ: Basketball: Mukama signs for APR for one season Israel Otobo is also out for a month after sustaining an ACL contusion and a Grade II MCL sprain while Chris Ruta underwent surgery on his left shoulder a previous dislocation. His recovery could take as long as six months. Diarra picked up a right ankle sprain and is currently recovering, while Adonis Filer is working through recovery after surgery to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon. Osborne Shema is also on the mend from a fat pad contusion, an injury to the heel that affects the soft tissue surrounding the area. Despite the injuries, APR remain the only undefeated team in the Rwanda Basketball League. They currently lead the league with 14 points, followed by REG in second place with 13 points while UGB are third with 11 points.
