The National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA) has confirmed receiving a case file involving Noella Bigirimana, the Deputy Director General of Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), and Theo Principe Uwayo, the institution’s Chief Finance Officer. Speaking to The New Times, NPPA spokesperson Faustin Nkusi, stated, “We received the case file from Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) on March 3, 2025. We are currently working on it, analysing and interviewing the suspects, ultimately taking the necessary legal action.” RIB previously announced the arrest of Bigirimana, and Uwayo on corruption-related charges. RIB spokesperson Thierry Murangira confirmed that the two were taken into custody on February 24, pending corruption investigation. “The investigation is still ongoing. At this stage, no further details can be shared, as it could interfere with the ongoing process,” Murangira said. Bigirimana was appointed Deputy Director General of RBC on January 27, 2022.
