A second half strike from winger Hadji Iraguha proved to be the match winner as Rayon Sports defeated Gorilla FC 1-0 at Kigali Pele Stadium on Thursday, in the Peace Cup quarterfinal second leg. The Blues thus qualified for the semifinals on a 3-2 aggregate after drawing 2-2 in the first leg. Coach Robertinho welcomed skipper Kevin Muhire back in his starting 11 after he missed last three games due to injury. His side dominated the game from the early stages as they played most of the balls in Gorilla’s half. The visitors, currently coached by Alain Kirasa, gradually pushed more men forward and created two decent chances in the 30th and 35th minutes but failed to capitalize on them. Hesbon Rutonesha had a swerving strike outside the box which was heading into the top corner of the net before it was ripped over the bar by Khadime Ndiaye in the 30th minute before another effort from him, five minutes later, went wide. Rayon were also able to penetrate into the Gorilla FC area. They used Iraguha and Innocent Assana who cut on from the flanks to cause havoc. Abeddy Biramahire had some decent goal scoring chances but his attempts were saved by goalkeeper Gad Muhawenayo before both teams headed into the halftime break. After the break, Biramahire superbly set up Iraguha who made no mistake by firing home in the 49th minute to make it 1-0 for Rayon.
