Saturday, March 1 Stage 6: Nyanza-Canal Olympia After a thrilling action in Rwanda’s Eastern and Southern Provinces, Tour du Rwanda 2025 returns to Kigali on Saturday, March 1, for Stage 6, a 131.1km route from Nyanza District to the finish line at Canal Olympia in Rebero. Riders will set off from Nyanza and head toward Kayanza, covering a 6km straight road before continuing to Ruhuha after 42km. The race then passes through Gako in Bugesera District at the 80.7km mark before reaching Nyamata. The final stretch presents a challenging uphill climb from Kanzenze, leading to the finish line at Canal Olympia in Rebero. ALSO READ: UAE's Marivoet wins stage Five, Delbove retains yellow In the previous stage, which covered 144 km from Rusizi to Huye, UAE Team Emirates' Gen Z rider Duarte Marivoet claimed victory with a time of 4 hours, 5 minutes, and 1 second. Meanwhile, Bike Aid emerged as the best team of the stage, taking over from TotalEnergies, who had previously held both the stage win and the yellow jersey. Despite losing their dominance in Stage 5, TotalEnergies’ French rider Joris Delbove retained the yellow jersey heading into Stage 6. With only two stages left in the 17th edition, no Rwandan rider has yet secured a stage victory. Freddy Kamuzinzi, the Managing Director of Tour du Rwanda, noted that this year’s edition is unique due to shorter stages, making it difficult to predict an outright winner before the final day. “The race’s stages are shorter compared to previous editions, making it hard to determine the overall winner until the final stage,” Kamuzinzi said. The final 26.1km from Kanzenze to Canal Olympia features a steep climb, requiring sprinters to position themselves well in advance to avoid falling behind.
